A four wheel drive is necessary for any touring of the local parks and reserves at all times of the year.
The Summer heat between December and March dictates caution with travelling into the parks. Water is always a necessity and there is no mobile phone service of reliablity within the local national parks.
For seasonal updates check CFA website, or Vic Roads websites or the local Police Station on 50 833 031.
Common sense is needed regarding the lighting of campfires in this region and winter is an ideal time for a visit.

The Hopetoun region has endured many years of drought. Hence the Lake is currently dry and common sense is needed regarding the lighting of campfires in this region and winter is an ideal time for a visit.
